INITIAL DATA LOAD

When PIM model is developed and tested, and product entities are manually created, the PIM becomes ready to receive data. Data needs to be inspected and cleared of errors before the import process can begin.

Defining the data sources

We support many kinds of data sources to use in the initial data load.

  • Csv files
  • CMS systems
  • External APIs
  • ERP systems
  • Dropbox
  • Other

Data Refinement

No data is the same. After we download the data from your existing data sources, we prepare it for import. Entity relationship errors are cleaned, and data types are checked and refined.

Load of media assets

PIM system with fewer products and smaller media assets can store the assets without a supporting CDN/DAM. PIM is a flexible system and can support many business needs.

In larger PIM systems, with many products, we need to make sure our solution stays performant. Large blob data should have no place in PIM. Media assets are stored in external content delivery networks (CDN) or advanced digital asset managemet (DAM) systems. In PIM only links to these assets are stored and small thumbnails. CDN/DAM systems act a single source of truth of assets. Live syncing on asset creation, update and deletion is needed with the PIM system. This process is usually developed in a modern way, using webhooks.

We support integrations with many modern DAM systems: Bynder, Scaleflex, Canto, etc., to name a few.

Integrations

It is not mandatory that all fields are owned by the PIM. These fields get their values set in external systems, and need to be synced from their respective owners, i.e. ERP. The integration process provides more details.
